Low-cost carrier Vietjet Air plans to launch seven new routes from Da Nang to Singapore, India and South Korea next month as the pace of tourism picks up.

There would be four to seven weekly flights on each route -- to Singapore, South Korea’s Busan and India’s New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Bangalore -- the airline announced at a business forum late last week.

Nguyen Thanh Son, deputy chairman of Vietjet, said the direct services are expected to boost tourism and investment in Da Nang as Vietnam fully reopens after Covid-19.

In 2019 Vietjet was the first carrier to fly to India, one of Vietnam's fastest growing tourism markets before the pandemic.

Da Nang, with its beautiful beaches and other stunning tourist sights, expects to receive 180,000 foreign visitors this year.

In 2019 there were 3.5 million foreign visitors.

Vietnam has allowed quarantine-free entry since March 15 and resumed visa exemption for South Koreans.

It has also removed Covid testing requirements.
