Two couples have been filmed clashing with each other at an observation deck in Tibet to fight for the best selfie spot while conquering Mount Everest.

On June 25, when their tour guide asked people to gather to pose for group photos, two couples argued about each other while scrambling to get to the best selfie spot. As tensions escalated, the two couples got into a fight, Chinese-language site Toutitao reported.

In a video shared on Chinese social media, a man first knocked another man to the ground and both started wrestling each other. Then a woman stepped forward and kicked another person.

Immediately afterwards, security forces showed up to prevent the incident from going too far, Chinese news site 163.com reported.

Dubbed the "roof of the world", Everest has an altitude of more than 8,800 m, located in the Mahalangur region of the Himalayas on the border between Nepal and China.

Since April this year, China has allowed foreign climbers to attempt Mount Everest, starting from Tibet, for the first time since the recent pandemic.

There are a maximum of 300 permits available annually for non-Chinese climbers.
