Forbes reported that Carlos discussed these family tensions on Tuesday.

"Apart from the incentives, my mom also had access to my bank account and my monthly allowances for gymnastics," the gymnast said in Filipino, as quoted by Inquirer.

"When I finally got control of that bank account, I found out she had been draining it. I have the bank statements showing the withdrawals she made."

Carlos also disclosed that his mother failed to inform him about receiving his incentives from the 2022 World Championships. Instead, she reported having received a lesser amount for a 2021 competition.

"The 70,000 pesos (US$1,221) incentives she mentioned from the World Championships in 2021, first of all, it was actually in 2022," he said. "I didn’t just receive 70,000 pesos, I know it was a six-digit amount because I won two medals."

He only discovered these incentives after conducting his own search and stated that he had not received nor requested them, emphasizing that he had relinquished them but wanted to know their whereabouts.

The gymnast also highlighted that the issue was not about the amount but the secretive handling and use of the funds without his consent.

This revelation came after the Monday release of an interview Angelica did with Bombo Radyo, in which she claimed she transferred Carlos’ earnings to her account to safeguard his future financial needs.

At 24, Carlos is recognized as the most decorated Filipino gymnast to date, having become the second Filipino to win an Olympic gold medal and the first to secure multiple golds in men’s floor and vault at this year's Paris Olympics.

He is slated to receive various accolades from the Philippine government, including a 10 million pesos monetary award and a two-bedroom condo valued at 24 million pesos in Manila’s McKinley Hill, as noted by the South China Morning Post.
