A British base jumper, who promoted skydiving tours online, died after his parachute failed to open when he jumped off a 29-storey building in Thailand's Pattaya on Saturday.

He was identified as Nathy Odinson, U.K. online newspaper The Independent said.

The police said they were informed about the accident at 7.30 p.m. Saturday and rushed to the building in Bang Lamung District and found Odinson's body on the ground.

Lieutenant Kamolporn Nadee, deputy inspector of Investigations at the Bang Lamung district police station, said the parachute had malfunctioned and was not centered as required, The Nation newspaper reported.

The police questioned Odinson's friends, who had filmed the stunt for social media.

He was an experienced skydiver, who had done jumps in many countries including the U.K., France, Switzerland, Portugal, South Africa, and Thailand.

His Instagram and Facebook pages have clips of his skydiving and base jumping in many locations in Thailand.

His Facebook page, which has more than 10,000 followers, tagged a Facebook page called Thai Sky Adventurers that sells skydiving packages for tourists.
