Singapore's Changi Airport has beaten more than 60 rivals to the crown of world's best airport in a survey conducted by British newspaper The Telegraph.

The 50 busiest airports globally in 2023 based on total passenger numbers were surveyed along with the 20 busiest in Europe.

For the rankings over 30 criteria were considered ranging from connectivity, reliability and practicality to passenger experience such as Wi-Fi speed, quality of restaurants and lounges, availability of outdoor terraces, rest zones, drinking water fountains, and mobile phone charging points.

Changi Airport is highly rated for its passenger experience.

Qatar's Hamad International Airport ranked second followed by Dubai International Airport and Seoul Incheon International Airport.

Airports in Asia and the Middle East dominated the rankings, claiming the top five spots. The top 10 was rounded off with three airports in North America and two in Europe.

Spanning more than one million square meters across four terminals, equivalent to 156 football fields, Changi Airport is celebrated for its state-of-the-art amenities, including duty-free shopping, luxury accommodation and automated check-ins.

It offers biometric authentication for a seamless immigration process.
