Singapore's budget airline Scoot announced it will launch direct routes to Phu Quoc, Vietnam's largest island, as well as Padang City in Indonesia, and Shantou City in China next month to expand travel options for passengers.

Starting Dec. 20, there will be three weekly flights to Phu Quoc, with frequency increasing to five per week from Jan. 25, 2025, The Straits Times reported, citing a source from the airline.

The Singapore-Padang route will commence on Jan. 6, followed by flights to Shantou, a coastal city in China, beginning Jan. 16.

Phu Quoc, located in the Gulf of Thailand, is renowned for its pristine beaches, luxurious resorts, and Phu Quoc National Park, a UNESCO biosphere reserve.

In July, it was ranked the world’s second most beautiful island after the Maldives by readers of American magazine Travel + Leisure in this year’s World’s Best Awards.

Scoot confirmed that tickets for these routes are available starting Nov. 11 on its website and mobile app.
