Square 39, on the rooftop of a complex on No. 3 Street in Binh An Ward in District 2, home to a large expat community, impresses visitors with its unique outdoor camping design. It is also known as the first-ever camping cafe in Vietnam. |
Khuong Duy, founder of Square 39, said: "The cafe follows the high-class camping cafe model popular in several Asian countries like Thailand, South Korea and Japan. It has tents, beds, air conditioners, bathrooms, electric water heaters, tables and desks, and even kitchens." |
Suited to those afraid to travel and go camping far from home amid the complicated Covid development, Square 39 typically opens from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. |
The cafe is equipped with professional camping equipment like tents, lamps, pans, pots, kettles and grills set up amid the green space. |
Square 39 serves some grilled snacks with craft beer after 5 p.m. – perfect for a nocturnal picnic. |
The menu includes coffee, juice, ground ice, smoothies, yogurt, with prices starting from VND37,000 ($1.59). Diners can order croissants or cookies. The cafe uses paper straws to reduce plastic waste. |
