Indian low-cost airline IndiGo will resume its direct flight service from Kolkata to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from May 23 after over two years of suspension.

According to IndiGo's official website, non-stop flights between the eastern Indian city of Kolkata and Hanoi will be operated twice a week every Monday and Friday while the service between Kolkata and HCMC will commence on three days a week.

The airline is also offering discounted round-trip fares of ₹13,499 ($176) on the Kolkata-Hanoi route and ₹15,499 ($202) on the Kolkata-HCMC route.

India suspended international flights since March 23, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic. On March 27 this year, it resumed international flight operations after almost two years.

In 2019, Indian carrier IndiGo launched direct flights from Kolkata to HCMC and Hanoi, the first ever direct flights between the two countries.

The number of Indian visitors to Vietnam has grown steadily over the past years from 19.9 percent in 2015 to 28 percent in 2019, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
