In early October, I, a HCMC resident, arrived at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 6 a.m. to start my trip to Singapore. Unfortunately, I had to endure long lines for customs clearance and baggage security checks, only leaving the security area at around 7 a.m.
In contrast, when I landed at Changi Airport, I was amazed by its automated check-in kiosks. After scanning my passport and boarding pass, I followed the system's instructions to complete the entry process, which took under a minute.
Since May, Singapore has allowed citizens from all countries to use the automated lanes for entry, with no prior registration required.
Airport security staff were on hand to assist first-time visitors or anyone facing difficulties with the automated system. It took just 30 seconds to collect my luggage.
Many travelers must have enjoyed amazing experiences using the airport like me, as Changi was recently voted one of the world's top 10 airports by readers of U.S. magazine Condé Nast Traveler readers. The airport has many times been voted as world's best by international aviation organizations.
