Vietnamese candidates' average IELTS score dropped to 6.2 out of 9 during the 2023-2024 period, resulting in the country's rank falling from 23rd in 2022 to 29th place.

The data, collected from a survey of candidates across 39 countries and territories in late September and published on the official IELTS website, revealed that 79% of test-takers sat for the Academic version of the test, while the remaining 21% took the General Training version.

The average score for female candidates was slightly higher at 6.23, compared to 6.18 for male candidates. Both averages marked a 0.4-0.5 point decrease compared to the 2022 figures.
