Falling rock kills tourist at Chinese scenic spot

A video recorded by witnesses at the scene showed the tourist posing for photos at a waterfall inside Wawushan tourist site in Hongya County at around 11 a.m., Jinguan News reported.

After taking photos, she was about to walk down the stairs when a rock suddenly fell and hit her head, knocking her to the ground, Chinese news site 163.com reported.

Several tourists quickly fled in fear of being hit by other rocks, while one male tourist approached the victim and called the police for help. The woman was confirmed dead several minutes later.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

The victim's family went to the scene to receive the body.

The tourist site is open for free from May 22 to June 30, attracting many visitors.
