A Chinese woman who survived being pushed off a cliff by her husband during their holiday in Thailand five years ago recently returned to the kingdom to thank the officials who saved her life.

Wang Nan, 37, came to the office of the Pha Taem National Park in Ubon Ratchathani Province, northeast Thailand last Saturday and offered healthy drinks to the four officials to express her gratitude, according to a statement released by the park on its Facebook page.

She thanked the officials for their quick response and saving her from death.

The tourist, then three months pregnant, and her husband traveled to Thailand in June 2019, Bangkok Post reported.

Both went up to a cliff near the national park to watch the sunrise. However, her husband then pushed her off the cliff but she luckily fell on several trees.

She suffered severe injuries and was found by the national park’s officials who gave her first aid before taking her to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The woman's unborn child did not survive.

A week after the incident, her husband was arrested as he told the police he wanted to kill his wife to inherit her fortune as he struggled with gambling debts.

In June last year he was sentenced to 33 years and four months' jail by Thailand’s highest court for attempted murder, The Straits Times reported.
