The video, posted on Feb. 27, has since gone viral. The tourist is seen wearing a hospital gown and sitting on a patient’s bed as she explains the accident of Feb. 24.
She claimed that the parasailing operator in Phuket advised her to use the service without providing detailed instructions.
She said she was quickly drawn up into the air and then crashed into the ground when she tried to land, breaking her leg.
Her video quickly went viral on Chinese social media, attracting over four million views and 500,000 shares as of Thursday.
The accident also made headlines in Thai media, prompting authorities to investigate the incident.
Phuket officials summoned the parasail operator to arrange a damage settlement with her, Phuket News reported.
The operator has agreed to pay compensation worth 400,000 baht (US$11,153) to the woman.
On Feb. 28, Phuket Tourist Police helped the Chinese tourist to board a flight back to her country, Khaosod English newspaper reported.
The tourist also agreed to remove the video after she returned home.
