Bill Gates often posts on his social media accounts about his holiday trips all over the world, combining charity work and environmental protection activities.

The American billionaire returned to Vietnam after 18 years on Monday. He and his girlfriend arrived in Da Nang on a Gulfstream G650ER private plane and are staying at a 5-star resort on Son Tra Peninsula.

On Tuesday they were scheduled to visit the ancient city of Hoi An, a 30-minute drive from Da Nang.

In 2006, Bill Gates went to Vietnam for a one-day trip and met with the elites of the global information technology industry.

During that trip, he spent a day visiting Tu Son District in the northern province of Bac Ninh and tried chewing betel and enjoyed quan ho, a folk singing genre from Bac Ninh.

At the age of nearly 70, Bill Gates regularly spends time traveling around the world. On his personal social media channels, he often shares photos from volunteer trips, environmental protection activities, and technology forums. His Instagram account has over 10 million followers while Facebook has 43 million.

Four days before visiting Vietnam, the American billionaire arrived in India to attend a pre-wedding party of Asia's richest billionaire Mukesh Ambani's son.

On his personal Instagram page, he posted videos and photos checking in at the Statue of Unity - the tallest statue in the world, located in the state of Gujarat.

At the end of January, Gates also visited Italy’s Rome where he wrote on his personal page that the highlight of any trip to Rome was to eat delicious food. The dishes he enjoyed during this visit were special foods developed by CGIAR, a global partnership that unites international organizations engaged in research about food security.

The billionaire is a fan of fast food like hamburgers, carbonated drinks, and French fries. In a February post on his personal blog, he shared that his favorite dish is cheeseburgers.

As an environmental activist, he also often spends time visiting protected destinations.

In October 2022, he visited the protected beaches in the Gulf of California in northwestern Mexico. This place was once known as the "world's aquarium," famous for its unique ecosystem and home to many marine animals.

"This area is truly special and is a global gem of biodiversity conservation. I am very grateful that it is protected," Gates shared on his personal page.

In July 2021, he went to Tokyo to attend the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and was present at the horse jumping competition to cheer on his son-in-law Nayel.

Last year he and his youngest daughter Phoebe Gates enjoyed bubble tea from a popular brand in Asia on a rooftop building in New York.

Gates is the co-founder of the world's largest software corporation Microsoft, having held the positions of president, CEO and chief software architect.

As of March, he has a fortune of $149 billion and is the fifth-richest person in the world. After leaving his executive job at Microsoft in 2008, he continued to pursue business and philanthropic projects.

He is said to own six private jets, including the Gulfstream G650ER.
