A staff member at Miami International Airport in the U.S. has been arrested for allegedly stealing two Rolex watches valued at $60,000 from a passenger.

Alberto Rabanal, 57, has been charged with two counts of second-degree grand theft. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and a fine of $10,000, according to a report by USA Today.

The incident occurred on Aug. 22, when a passenger arrived at the airport from Portugal and reported that his bag, containing two Rolex watches, had been missing, NBC 6 South Florida reported.

Surveillance footage revealed the passenger placing his bag on the ground next to his feet. Shortly after the passenger walked away, Rabanal, who was working the night shift, was seen approaching the bag and taking it out of sight.

After stealing the watches, Rabanal disposed of the bag by throwing it into a trash can.

Following a review of the security footage, Rabanal was arrested.

During the investigation, police searched his home and found the stolen watches in his wardrobe.
