Airfares to popular domestic tourist destinations have dropped as the peak summer travel season ends.

Vietnam Airlines' highest one-way fare from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City on August 2 was VND2.2 million (US$87) before taxes and fees, amounting to 65% of the ceiling price of VND3.4 million. During the peak travel month of June, this fare reached up to VND3 million during prime hours.

For the Hanoi-Phu Quoc route, the longest domestic route, Vietnam Airlines is selling tickets for VND3.05 million for August 8 departures, 76% of the ceiling price. In June, one-way fares on this route were up to VND3.4 million.

Regarding the Hanoi-Da Nang route, the highest one-way fare on August 2 from Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet was around VND1.6 million, 56% of the maximum price of VND2.89 million.

On the Hanoi-Cam Ranh route, the highest one-way fare on August 3-4 was nearly VND2.5 million, 72% of the ceiling price of VND3.4 million. Vietjet offered the lowest average fares on many days, just 25% of the maximum price.

Ticket prices on the Hanoi-Da Lat route remained stable in August. On August 2, Vietnam Airlines sold tickets for VND2.9 million during the day, 80% of the ceiling price. On other days, fares fluctuated between 30% and 40% of the maximum price. Vietjet Air's fares ranged from VND800,000 to VND1.1 million, 24-30% of the ceiling price, while Bamboo Airways' fares were 25-50% of the maximum price.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam noted that some localities, such as HCMC, along with travel companies, are offering accommodation options for passengers flying at night. This helps reduce overall trip costs and alleviates daytime transportation pressure on airlines.
