Citing Allkpop, Dan Tri Newspaper reported that South Korean model Jo Ji Young, a close friend of Shin’s, announced the news on her Instagram account on Sunday.

"Please send your deepest condolences and prayers for Hae Ri, so she doesn’t feel alone on her final journey," Jo wrote.

The news of Shin’s passing has prompted an outpouring of grief from her friends and fans.

Shin’s funeral, organized by her family, reportedly took place in Seoul on Sunday.

The model first gained public attention as she competed in the 2012 Miss Korea Gyeongnam pageant. She began her modeling career at South Korean racing events in 2014 and started serving as a ring girl for the South Korean mixed martial arts promotion Road Fighting Championship in 2018.

She unexpectedly announced her retirement earlier this month.
