Canada's largest airline Air Canada on Thursday resumed a non-stop service from Vancouver to Singapore for the first time since 1991.

There would be four weekly flights between Singapore and Vancouver and the launch of the non-stop service comes six months after Singapore Airlines halted services between the two cities, The Straits Times reported.

The route, operated with Boeing 787-9 aircraft, takes 14 hours and 40 minutes.

David Rheault, vice-president for government and community relations, says the airline plans to add an additional weekly service from December, raising its total frequency to five flights per week.

153,000 Canadians visited Singapore last year.

Singapore is Air Canada’s second destination in Southeast Asia, following Bangkok.

In the northeast region, the airline is flying to various destinations across Japan, China, as well as to Seoul and Hong Kong.
