A national tourism app called Visit Vietnam integrating one-click booking, AI integration and multimedia functions will be launched in 2026 and seek to become a “super app” by 2027.

Plans for it were unveiled at the "Tourism Data in Digital Economy Development" conference held in Quang Ninh Province on Aug. 15.

It will consolidate travel information, destination reviews and booking services in one place, and is considered a strategic step toward digital tourism.

Sun Group will develop and operate the platform, and the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism will handle communication, promotion and business participation. Data for it will be provided mainly by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), tourism businesses and travelers. The National Data Association (NDA) will serve as its certification body.

Visit Vietnam will have an AI-powered travel assistant for automated planning and booking, blockchain-based authentication, and services for transportation, accommodation, dining, and loyalty programs. Data will be secured through blockchain and tokenization processes.

A national data platform and the first version of a national tourism dashboard will be introduced in October for government use along with a public information portal. By the second quarter of 2026, the app is expected to be available for download, providing itinerary planning tools and blockchain-based authentic review systems.

Vietnam plans to showcase the app at the 2027 APEC Summit as a platform offering direct booking, AI-generated itinerary suggestions and data-as-a-service for businesses. The goal is to establish it as a comprehensive tourism super app that strengthens Vietnam’s global presence.

Nguyen Trung Khanh, chairman of VNAT, said the app is expected to address the problem of scattered and hard-to-access information in the tourism sector.

Major Dao Duc Trieu, secretary general of the NDA, said the platform represents an important step toward building a public-private tourism data ecosystem. The data not only reflects visitor numbers, destinations and services, but also helps forecast trends, optimize products, enhance the visitor experience, and make evidence-based policies, he said.

It would also enable businesses to innovate, personalize services and connect Vietnam’s tourism ecosystem with the global market, he added.
