A viral video of China’s Unitree H1 humanoid robot flailing uncontrollably during a test has raised concerns over the potential dangers of advanced robotics.

The footage shows the robot swinging uncontrollably while suspended from a crane before the entire apparatus crashes to the ground, narrowly missing nearby technicians, Interesting Engineering reported.

"Oh my god, what the f*ck was that?" a woman, identified by Futurism as Amanda Watson, CTO of robot combat company REK, exclaimed in the background.

"What the f*ck did you guys run?" replied Cix Liv, REK’s self-proclaimed "chief robot fighter," in apparent shock.

The authenticity of the clip has not been independently verified, leading some to speculate whether it was a publicity stunt.

Liv, who posted the video on X, wrote: "Please make this go viral so I can pay for repairs. Our humanoid robot boy DeREK completely lost his mind."

He and his colleagues are developing technology that allows humans to remotely pilot fighting robots using VR headsets, according to Futurism.

He later attributed the erratic behavior to human error, explaining: "The technical reason is we ran a full body policy while the feet weren't touching the ground. Don’t do that."

This is not the first time Unitree robots have attracted attention for unexpected behavior. In May, another H1 unit malfunctioned in a Chinese factory, thrashing violently while suspended from a crane and startling nearby engineers.

Standing 5.9 feet tall and weighing 104 pounds (47 kilograms), the H1 is designed to walk, run, and perform dynamic moves such as dancing and backflips.

Its successor, the G1, has also gained global attention for executing complex tasks like kip-ups and cooking, and even participating in what has been dubbed the world’s first humanoid robot boxing tournament.
