The M8 and M9, launched in April 2025, are both equipped with LiDAR sensors to detect surrounding objects, measure distances, and support advanced driver-assistance and automated parking functions.
The Aito M8 is among the first models to integrate Huawei’s Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4 system, which offers intelligent driving support and automated parking, according to Car News China.
Both the M8 and M9 feature external gesture controls that users often liken to "telepathy" or "magic." Cameras positioned between the front and rear doors, combined with facial recognition and Huawei’s AI algorithms, track hand movements, allowing users to open or close the sliding doors with a simple wave, without touching the door handle.

Hand gestures can also serve as confirmation commands, enabling the vehicle to reverse automatically into a selected parking space after the driver exits. The same gesture can be used to summon the car to drive itself out of a parking spot.
In China, the Aito M8 and M9 are available in both fully electric and extended-range electric vehicle versions. Prices start at 359,800 yuan (US$50,000) for the M8 and 469,800 yuan for the M9.
