The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which has announced this, said a gold medal would fetch VND140 million ($5,735) from the government.
Other agencies will also pay them bonuses. The Vietnam Olympic Committee will award them VND200 million ($8,195) and the National Sports Training Center, VND100 million.
Some federations have also announced similar rewards.
The Vietnam Athletics Federation will pay a bonus of VND600 million for a gold medal in team events (VND400 million for four athletes and VND200 million for the coach) as well as VND300 million for individual winners.
The Vietnam Gymnastics Federation will pay a reward of VND100 million for a gold medal, VND50 million for a silver and VND20 million for a bronze.
The Vietnam Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Federation will pay VND30 million, 20 million and 10 million.
The rattan ball team will get VND300 million if they win gold.
The 19th Asian Games will take place in Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8. Vietnam is set to send 337 athletes in 31 sports and targets two to five gold medals.
