Vietnam Basketball Association (VBA) league organizers have announced the imminent launch of a reality show to feed sport enthusiasts’ appetite for the game.

"Nguoi Hung San Dau" (The Starting Five) will center around players' lives off the court, quarantined foreign coaches and athletes, and training ahead of the VBA 2020 season.

The league's first reality show will be aired on HTV7 every Friday, starting November 6 at 10:45 p.m.

According to a VBA representative, the show would include 12 episodes, each lasting 30 minutes. The first seven episodes will feature seven guest celebrities visiting the players of the seven teams competing in this year's season - Hanoi Buffaloes, Thang Long Warriors, Danang Dragons, Nha Trang Dolphins, Saigon Heat, Ho Chi Minh City Wings, and Cantho Catfish.

VBA said the teams would play 49 to 53 matches, shown live online and on television, and with spectator attendance decided by the Covid-19 situation at the time.

This year’s national league will be played at Studio S4 - Zoo Media in Saigon's District 12 starting October 15.

Last year, Saigon Heat won the title by beating Cantho Catfish in the finals.
