The 25-year-old Vietnamese tennis ace (ranked 568) put up a tough fight but still couldn't defeat the 2.03-meter-tall opponent (532).
Schepper won both sets 6-3. The 34-year-old French player was once ranked 62th in the world and participated in four Grand Slam tournaments in his career.
Though finishing second, Nam still had 12 points added to his ATP men's tennis rankings and received a cash prize of over $2,000.
It is expected that he will return to the Top 500 players ranking next week.
Nam will head to Thailand to vie in the M15 Chiang Rai tournament, slated for April 4-17.
He will also represent Vietnam at the 31st SEA Games back home in May, returning as gold medalist in the men's singles.
