"I can still feel the pain once in a while, but I guess I’ll be okay," he told Filipino newspaper Inquirer.
Yulo hurt his left ankle at the Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup last week, which forced him to pull out of the tournament.
The 23-year-old champ won five gold medals in last year’s SEA Games 31 in Vietnam.
However, he will not be able to replicate the feat this year since the organizers have decided he can only participate in a maximum of four events.
Yulo is entered in the individual all-around, parallel bars, horizontal bars, and men’s team events.
SEA Games 32 will be held May 5 to 17 in Cambodia’s capital city Phnom Penh and four other localities, with more than 12,400 athletes, coaches, officials, staff and volunteers set to participate.
