The Vietnam U23 team, now preparing for the U23 Asian Cup qualifiers, defeated Kyrgyzstan 3-0 in an exhibition match Sunday night.

Vietnam had trouble with their opponent’s high pressing play at the start, and their passing when attacking was often sloppy.

Between the 29th and 32nd minutes Kyrgyzstan had two clear chances with their strikers shooting dangerously at goal, and only keeper Quan Van Chuan’s excellence kept them out.

After narrowly escaping, Vietnam started to play better and opened the scoring.

In the 37th minute, Le Xuan Tu was fouled inside the box and the referee awarded Vietnam a penalty. Le Van Do converted to make it 1-0.

Coach Park Hang-seo made four substitutions in the second half and one of them, forward Tran Van Dat, scored the second goal.

In the 51st minute Dat dribbled into the box from the left, passed two defenders and kicked the ball into the far corner.

Nine minutes later Dat again made a lethal finish after receiving a pass from the left.

The match was Vietnam’s last on their UAE training trip. A week ago they drew 1-1 with Tajikistan.

On October 27 they play their first match in the Asian Cup qualifiers against Taiwan.
