Forward Nguyen Van Quyet has rewarded himself with a brand-new Toyota worth over VND4 billion (US$156,000) after extending his contract with Hanoi FC until 2028.

Quyet, accompanied by his son Quan, visited a showroom in Hanoi to receive his new ride on March 15. He decided to sell his 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport and opted for a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

This model has a listed price of VND3.48 billion. However, due to global shortages, customers often have to pay an additional VND500 million for early delivery. A showroom representative confirmed that Quyet spent over VND4 billion to acquire his new car.

The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, launched in October 2024, is the latest-generation model featuring a boxy, terrain-optimized design. It is powered by a 2.4L gasoline engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering 267 horsepower and 430Nm of maximum torque.

The purchase serves as a personal reward for Quyet following his contract renewal with Hanoi FC. On Feb. 14, he agreed to a three-year extension with the club, keeping him at the capital club until 2028. Reports suggest he received a signing bonus of up to VND18 billion, bringing his total career signing bonuses to approximately VND56 billion ($2.19 million).

Since joining Hanoi FC in 2011, Quyet has enjoyed immense success, winning five V. League, three National Cup and four Super Cup titles.

Quyet currently holds the all-time V. League goal-scoring record among Vietnamese players, with 119 goals, surpassing football legend Le Cong Vinh by three. He has won the Vietnamese Golden Ball twice (2020 and 2022) and the Silver Ball twice (2014 and 2015). He also captained Vietnam national team to victory in the 2018 AFF Cup (now ASEAN Cup).

This season, Quyet has already scored five goals for Hanoi FC, who are currently third in the V. League standings with 27 points, trailing league leader Nam Dinh FC by four.
