Midfielder Ly Cong Hoang Anh has been drafted back into the Vietnamese team now playing in the AFF Cup in Singapore.

He had initially been named in the squad for the tournament, but was replaced by star midfielder Do Hung Dung after he recovered from injury.

But that was on November 26, three days past the deadline Singapore had set for registering teams.

So, when the Vietnam Football Fedefation and the Vietnamese embassy in Singapore contacted the hosts to include Dung in the team, they said the government had tightened entry regulations due to Covid-19 and he could not be added.

So Park brought back Anh into the squad, and Singapore has agreed to permit him entry since he had been in the original list.

He is set to fly to Singapore on Thursday and join the team a day later for training if he tests negative for Covid.

Vietnam play Malaysia in their second match in group B on December 12. The Golden Dragons made a solid start with a 2-0 victory over Laos on Monday.
