Businesses that want to advertise during the hours of Vietnam's upcoming World Cup qualifiers will have to spend more than twice the normal rate, according to national broadcaster VTV.

A 10-second TV commercial during Vietnam's three World Cup Asian qualifiers will cost VND240 million ($10,460) while 30 seconds is worth VND600 million ($26,160), the Television Advertising and Services Center (TVAd) of VTV announced.

This is a surge compared to the normal rate of VND100 million for 10 seconds.

For the World Cup 2018 final, VTV jacked up the price to a record VND400 million for 10 seconds, VND480 million for 15 seconds, VND600 million for 20 seconds and VND800 million for 30 seconds.

That record was broken when Vietnam played the SEA Games 2019 final with Indonesia. The lowest add fee was VND475 million for 10 seconds and the highest a whooping VND975 million for half a minute on air.

Vietnam’s three World Cup qualification games will be broadcast nationally on two channels, VTV5 and VTV6. All matches will kick off at 8:45 p.m. local time (11:45 p.m. Hanoi time).

Topping the group with 11 points, Vietnam will play Indonesia on June 7, Malaysia on the 11th and the UAE on the 15th. Seven more points will secure them a place in the final World Cup qualification round.

The games will also be reported live on VnExpress International.
