The T3 terminal at the Tan Son Nhat airport, costing VND11 trillion ($432.1 million), is now 83% completed after a year in construction.

The new domestic terminal of Tan Son Nhat Airport is expected to be completed on April 30 this year, two months earlier than planned. Once it enters operation, the terminal will be able to host 20 million visitors, increasing the airport's capacity to 50 million visitors a year.

Le Khac Hong, head of the management committee of the T3 terminal project, said several measures have been employed to resolve the project's difficulties.

Construction of the terminal has seen the cement, rough infrastructures and roof completed.

The terminal has one basement and four connecting floors, with the total floor area at 112,500 m2.

The glass walls of the project are now 94% completed.

Steel structures that make up the terminal's roof, weighing 7,500 tons, have been completed. The terminal has 90 traditional aviation procedure booths, 20 automatic bagdrop areas and 42 check-in kiosks.

Over 2,000 engineers and workers are working on the project.

Once completed, the T3 terminal will help share burden from the T1 terminal, as well as the Long Thanh airport, which is under construction in Dong Nai Province that borders HCMC.
