Global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo said he has reached one billion followers across all social media platforms, becoming the first celebrity to do so.

"We’ve made history - 1 BILLION followers!" Ronaldo wrote on X on Friday, which has garnered over 41.9 million views and 525,000 likes. "This is more than just a number, it’s a testament to our shared passion, drive, and love for the game and beyond."

Ronaldo also thanked his one billion followers: "You’ve been with me every step of the way, through all the highs and the lows. This journey is our journey, and together, we’ve shown that there are no limits to what we can achieve.

The Portuguese star didn’t mention the specific number of accounts on social networks he participates in, besides Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube and two Chinese platforms, Weibo and Kuaishou. The platforms that Ronaldo attracted the highest number of followers are Instagram with 638 million, Facebook 170 million and X 113 million.

UR · Cristiano, a YouTube channel created by Ronaldo on Aug. 7 and launched on Aug. 21, now has more than 60 million subscribers. The Guinness World Record recognizes this as the YouTube channel with the most subscribers within 24 hours.

The channel has scored a series of "firsts" on YouTube such as the fastest to reach 100,000 subscribers, in 22 minutes; 1 million subs, in 47 minutes; and 10 million subs, after 11 hours and 31 minutes. Previously, the record for the fastest 10 million subs was held by Hamster Kombat in seven days.
