The index compiles the iPhone price-to-wage ratios annually in markets where the devices are officially sold. It calculates the wages by dividing the monthly incomes by 21, the average number of working days in a month.
Vietnam is among the markets where it takes the longest to buy the phone after Turkey (72.9 days), the Philippines (68.8 days) and Brazil (68.6 days).
The 128GB iPhone 16 Pro costs VND28.99 million (US$1,180) in Vietnam where the average monthly net wage is VND11.48 million, according to data Picodi used to calculate the index.
The markets where people take the fewest working days to buy the phone are Sweden (4 days), the U.S. (5.1 days) and Australia and Singapore (5.7 days).
The iPhone 16 is expected to be launched in Vietnam on Sept. 27.
