In my opinion, authorities should have stronger measures to improve the traffic situation in Vietnam.

Aside from raising personal awareness of traffic laws, law enforcement officials should be stricter with violators.

First, the driver’s license exam should be more serious. Now, it is easy for someone to get a driver’s license as there are loopholes that enable fraud such as fake licenses, paid for licenses, hiring someone to take the exam, etc. Some people are so brazen that they even brag about their cheating to get driver’s license.

Second, the fine for driving without a license should be higher. The rate of those driving without a license is up as the fine is so small that it is not enough to deter violators. Most of them are women, teenagers, and elderly people. From my point of view, those who do not have a driver’s license should travel by public transport like bus or taxicab.

And the finally, those who pay for a driver’s license, or who hire someone to take the driver’s license exam, and those making fake licenses, should be severely punished. Most important, heavy fines must be imposed on brokers for such illegal acts.
