Asia's 'most beautiful island' sees 60% growth in tourist arrivals in January

Phu Quoc, voted Asia's most beautiful island by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, enjoyed a good start to the year with 983,387 arrivals in January, a 60.7% year-on-year increase.

Phu Quoc's total tourism revenue in January is estimated at VND6.1 trillion (US$235 million), an increase of 140.9% compared to the same period last year, according to An Giang Province's Department of Tourism.

The number of foreign visitors exceeded 278,000, meeting 13% of this year's target.

According to data from Phu Quoc International Airport, the total number of passengers passing through the airport in January reached nearly 790,000, an increase of approximately 34% compared to the same period of last year.

On Jan. 17, the airport received 47 international flights, its highest yet, according to information from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

2025 was a booming year for Phu Quoc with 8.1 million visitors including 1.8 million foreign arrivals.

The Vietnam's largest island expects to receive 8.5 million tourists this year, up 5% from last year, including two million foreigners, an 11% increase.
