These comments were in response to a survey showing that most Vietnamese spend VND41,000 to VND70,000 on a cup of coffee, with many no longer willing to pay VND100,000 per drink.
"Even VND41,000 coffee is expensive. Maximum I am willing to pay for a coffee in a coffee shop would be VND25,000/cappuccino. Even at this price owner of coffee shop make 30% profit margin."

"I usually spend VND10,000 every day by brewing it myself at home. Just buy a bag of coffee beans from your favorite coffee shop and do it yourself at home. Very affordable and very delicious. We are a nation of coffee & tea. If you spend over VND100,000 for a cup of coffee, you are basically getting scammed by the restaurant."

"Coffee in a bar in southern France is VND42,000 to VND50,000 with a cookie included. And France doesn't have coffee trees but a big VAT and higher workers' costs. Yes coffee in Vietnam coffee shop is very expensive."

"I might be willing to pay more than VND50,000 for a good cappuccino but never from foreign or domestic coffee chains. Small shops offer the greatest coffee and best prices. I recently had an excellent cappuccino for VND40,000 at a food court stall."

"A coffee from a cart, small shop or a luxury shop might taste the same but cost vary widely. You're never buying the actual coffee. You're paying for the experience. If you're buying coffee outside your home you have already lost the game, because for VND25,000 I can make a few days of coffee at home."
