Vietnam to enjoy seven-day Lunar New Year break

The holiday will last from Feb. 8 to 14, 2024, allowing workers to return home two days before the Year of the Dragon, for which the traditional festival will peak on Feb. 10.

Tet often sees millions of migrant workers from major cities and industrial hubs return to their homes for family reunions before Lunar New Year's Eve. It also prompts holiday-goers to flock to tourist hotspots.

The festival is celebrated by several other Asian communities around the world.

The PM also approved a four-day break for next year’s National Day, from Aug. 31 to Sept. 3, 2024.

Vietnam has 11 official days off for holidays and festivals a year. Foreigners working in Vietnam get an extra day off for their traditional New Year holiday, and another day off for their countries' National Day holiday.
