63 cases were recorded in HCMC, 16 in Bac Giang, four in Nghe An, three in Bac Ninh and two in Ha Tinh.
Of the cases in HCMC, 38 had made contact with previously confirmed patients, 24 are linked to a Christian mission coronavirus cluster, and one is associated with an outbreak at the municipal Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
All the cases in Bac Giang are associated with existing outbreaks in industrial parks.
One case in Nghe An had made contact with Covid-19 patients, while three others are being contact traced.
One case in Bac Ninh is linked to outbreaks in industrial parks, and two others had made contact with coronavirus patients.
All cases in Ha Tinh had made contact with confirmed cases.
The country has recorded 134 local cases so far on Monday.
Almost two months into its fourth wave, Vietnam has recorded infections in 42 of its 63 cities and provinces.
Bac Giang is leading the case count with 5,427 infections, followed by HCMC with 1,714 and Bac Ninh with 1,532. On Sunday HCMC overtook Bac Ninh to become the locality with the second-highest number of local infections in Vietnam’s latest coronavirus wave.
The country has recorded more than 13,300 Covid cases since Covid-19 first hit in early last year.
