Vietnam confirms over 102,000 new Covid-19 cases

The Health Ministry announced 102,046 domestic Covid-19 patients in 61 cities and provinces Sunday, including 51,316 detected on previous days in the northern Thai Binh and Bac Giang provinces.

Most of the new cases were detected Thai Binh (41,725), followed by Bac Giang (13,819) and Hanoi (6,304).

In the past 24 hours, 37 Covid-19 patients have died, including two in Hanoi.

Since the pandemic started last year, the death toll in Vietnam has climbed to 42,600, or 0.4 percent of all infections.

In the latest wave that hit the country in late April, more than 9.8 million cases have been confirmed and 7.7 million of them have recovered.

So far, 79.7 percent of the population have received two vaccine doses.
