The 98.3-km Cam Lo - La Son Expressway opened to traffic on Dec. 31, 2022 to connect Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue Provinces.

It is one of five expressways in Vietnam that have two lanes and are 12 meters wide on most of their lengths. Some of their parts which have four lanes and are 23 meters wide allow overtaking.

There are plans to widen all these expressways to four lanes after 2030.

Cam Lo - La Son Expressway has seen several accidents since opening. Most recently on Dec. 18, 2023, two container trucks collided heads-on and caught fire, leaving one driver dead and two other people severely injured.
