A five-seater side-swiped a parked vehicle in Hue City, blew through a red light, hopped a curb, and then crashed into a light pole, crushing three motorbikes on Friday morning.

The incident took place at around 8:30 a.m. and was caught on dashcam footage: it looked like the sidewinding car was on the rails of a roller coaster as it veered into the wrong lane at a red light, ricocheted off a parked car on the other side of the street, passed a group of cars stopped at the light, and then turned on a dime to flash diagonally across the intersection like lightning, only to be halted when it rammed three parked motorbikes and collided into a lamppost.

The light pole came crashing down over the car – which was entirely totaled – and smashed onto the street in the middle of the busy intersections.

The confused gasps and screams of scared onlookers can be heard in the video.

It was fateful and fortunate that no one was crossing the intersection of Nguyen Hue Street and Phan Boi Chau Street when this particular wild Toyota was in the middle of causing its freaky frenzied fracas.

The series of events left the car’s driver, Le Thanh Cang, 80, with severe injuries.

Passersby broke the car’s door and rushed him to a hospital. He is currently under treatment.

Police said Cang was not driving under the influence of alcohol.

They are investigating the case further.

An witness said she had just parked her motorbike on the sidewalk and entered an ATM station by the lamppost when the car chaotically rushed the intersection.

"It is lucky that the light pole was there to stop the car just in time," she said.
