Police in northern Hai Phong City have arrested two men after they performed wheelies and drove at almost 300 kph on Cat Ba Island.

Nguyen Van Tuan, 29, and Dinh Van Anh, 26, who are both residents of nearby Hanoi, are now under detention for "disturbing public order," Hai Phong police announced Tuesday.

In mid-October, videos appeared on social networks showing a group of six men riding large-displacement motorbikes on Cat Ba Island.

They drove at high speeds of nearly 300 kph, had the front wheels off the ground, and revved their engines several times.

Police tracked them down and identified Tuan as one of the motorcyclists.

Tuan told police that on Sept. 9, he and several other motorcyclists gathered to perform dangerous stunts along several streets in Cat Hai District of Cat Ba Island.

They made videos of the performance and then posted them on social media.

Tuan is a popular YouTuber and Facebooker in the motorcyclist community.
