Three people in the central Thua Thien-Hue Province were arrested for organizing for 16 people to illegally migrate to South Korea posing as tourists, for VND6 billion ($242,277).

Hoang Van Bac, 28, Tran Hong Quan, 35, and Le Van Hien, 42, were arrested by Thua Thien-Hue police to be investigated for organizing illegal emigration, police said Wednesday.

In August 2023, Bac, Quan and Hien formed the Bac Nam Vinh Company to find people who want to travel to South Korea as tourists and stay there illegally for jobs.

The firm collected the profiles of 16 people, taking from them VND420 million each.

The three had allegedly forged documents for the 16 people to be able to go to South Korea as tourists. They then contacted a tourism company in Hue City to bring the 16 people to South Korea.

The police, however, stopped them in time.
