Techtronic Industries honored at 2023 AmCham Vietnam ESG Impact Showcase

Techtronic Industries Vietnam (TTI Vietnam) was highlighted as one of 10 businesses demonstrating exemplary dedication to ESG activities at the 2023 AmCham Vietnam ESG Impact Showcase.

AmCham Vietnam ESG Impact Showcase is a nomination hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham) in HCMC at its traditional "Giving Thanks Dinner to honor and recognize AmCham members who have demonstrated significant environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impact in Vietnam in 2023.

During the dinner party, TTI was highlighted among the other 9 companies that not only deliver economic success and financial sustainability but also integrate ESG (environmental, social, and governance) as part of their long-term business strategy, contributing to nurturing an ecosystem for responsible business practices in Vietnam.

The recognition solidifies Techtronic Industries’ dedication to contributing to the Vietnamese community through its commitment to ESG principles.

Susan Burns, U.S. Consul General in HCMC, congratulated and recognized the significant contributions of companies in the American business community in HCMC to ESG practices.

According to her, the ESG Impact Awards are an opportunity to celebrate companies that have made a positive impact in Vietnam and to demonstrate that businesses can thrive by doing good.

Following the Vietnamese sustainable development commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, Techtronic Industries Vietnam (TTI Vietnam) has been integrating ESG values across its strategy and decision-making process, which has resulted in significant value creation for all stakeholders through its four strategic drivers: powerful brands, innovative products, exceptional people, and operational excellence.

TTI’s determination to lead the industry in sustainability stems from its passion for creating breakthrough products that protect people, minimize environmental impact, and have a positive influence in the communities in which it operates.

In Vietnam, the company places great emphasis on fostering a strategy that prioritizes the development of the bond between the environment and the community.

The strategy is in line with TTI's decarbonization global strategy, backed by the commitment to Science-Based Target Initiatives (SBTi) to reach the emission reduction target of 60% in Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 2030.

Tran Thuy Linh An, Vice President of TTI's Human Resources and Strategic Projects, said that they are very pleased to be recognized by AmCham as one of the companies making significant contributions to the community.

Commencing operations in Vietnam since August 2018, TTI Vietnam has been an active player in the industry, proven by its flagship brand, Milwaukee, with the Milwaukee Heavy-Duty Center in HCMC and Hanoi, a reputable employer that is fostering 10,000 Vietnamese employees, and a socially conscious business with a practical ESG framework.

TTI initiatives focus on decarbonization, responsibility for resource and material use in partnership with local suppliers, investment, and community engagement.

The company's commitment to decarbonizing manufacturing operations is exemplified by the current construction of LEED-certified, energy-efficiently designed, state-of-the-art manufacturing sites at Saigon Hi-Tech Park.

In contributing to the community, since 2019, TTI Vietnam has collaborated with its partner Habitat for Humanity to build WASH facilities to help underprivileged communities in Tien Giang, Kien Giang, and Thai Nguyen.

The 2020–2021 project in Go Cong–Tien Giang benefited 169 households and 500 students, while the 2022–2023 project in Kien Giang and Thai Nguyen is expected to equip 100 families with new houses and WASH facilities. Over 150 students will enjoy the new latrine.

Training workshops and communication campaigns under the program will help almost 1,580 people increase their knowledge and skills on building a safe house and safeguarding their families’ hygiene and health.

One of the backbones contributing to Techtronic Industries ESG success lies in its excellence in being environmentally conscious and in supporting's people investment and development.

TTI is fostering 10,000 employees in manufacturing facilities and offices across the nation. The company puts its heart into nurturing talent within the internal and surrounding communities.

In keeping with its international legacy, TTI has implemented the Leadership Development Program since 2022 in Vietnam to nurture the next generation of talents, providing recent graduates with opportunities to explore their potential and excel in specialized knowledge and essential skills within the organization.

Embarking on educating the local talents, TTI joined hands with AmCham HCMC and Da Nang for the AmCham Women in Engineering Scholarship program for two consecutive years to give scholarships to 130 female students at 12 institutions in HCMC, Da Nang, and Dong Nai to study and explore STEM subjects for a better future.

In addition to the journey, TTI supported 25 young talents having chances to bring their start-up business ideas to reality at the German Business Association's Business Challenge Competition, Season IV, 2023.
