President Vo Van Thuong will attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Week in San Francisco, the U.S., from Nov. 14-17.

The trip is made at the invitation of U.S. President Joe Biden and will include bilateral activities in the U.S., the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday.

It came two months after Vietnam and the U.S. upgraded their diplomatic relations to comprehensive strategic partnership during President Joe Biden's visit to Hanoi.

The U.S. is hosting APEC after 30 years, this time under the theme of "Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All."

This year also marks 25 years since Vietnam joined APEC, a forum of 21 economies in Asia Pacific, which account for around 60% of the world's GDP. It pushes for open trade and investment and supports sustainble economic development.
