Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited an aircraft manufacturing workshop at Turkish Aerospace Industries during his two-day visit to the country on Thursday.

At Chinh’s reception ceremony, a representative of the corporation said the firm would like to bolster cooperation with Vietnam starting with projects that have already been deployed.

Chinh commended Turkey’s spirit when it comes to the development of its defense industry, and said Turkey’s aviation sector has satisfied the majority of domestic and export demands. Chinh also thanked Turkey for having supported Vietnam’s defense industry.

He said that in order to modernize national defense, Vietnam has deemed cooperation and international integration both practical and effective. Chinh asked that both sides continue to bolster cooperation, especially regarding the defense sector.

The Turkish Aerospace Industries has workshops and factories spanning 150,000 m2 in Ankara, and is capable of manufacturing aircraft as well as parts.

Vietnam and Turkey established diplomatic relations in 1978 and the two countries have maintained a variety of friendly and cooperative relations.

Turkey is one of Vietnam's leading trading partners in the Middle East and serves as a gateway for Vietnam to export to the Middle East and Southern Europe.

The two nations’ bilateral trade turnover in 2022 exceeded $2 billion, with Vietnam exporting $1.6 billion.
