Trong expressed Vietnam’s appreciation for the great help provided by the Russian Federation, and previously the Soviet Union, towards Vietnam and its people. He emphasized that Vietnam considers its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia one of the top foreign affairs policy priorities.

Putin expressed his satisfaction at the positive developments in bilateral relations between the two countries in all areas, affirming that Vietnam is and has always been one of Russia’s friends and reliable partners.

The two leaders discussed and agreed upon several major initiatives to promote bilateral cooperation in the future, including those in areas such as security and defense, economy and trade, culture, and tourism.

Vietnam and Russia established diplomatic relations in 1950 and elevated the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2012.
