Le Hung Son, Party chief and chairman of Co To District in the northern Quang Ninh Province, faces disciplinary action following allegation that he raped a subordinate.

The Communist Party's Central Inspection Commission said at its meeting held November 29-December 1 that its Secretariat, one of the country's highest decision-making bodies along with the Politburo, has been asked to discipline Son.

The commission said Son had violated working regulations, the Party’s principles, politics and lifestyle requirements and failed to display exemplary behavior.

Son is alleged to have raped the subordinate after a drinking party, according to Bao Ve Phap Luat newspaper.

The Standing Committee of Co To District Party Committee is assessed to have been lackluster in its leadership and let key members violate Party regulations and principles. The commission has issued a warning to the district's Party Standing Committee as well.

It has also asked the Quang Ninh Party Committee to learn from the mistakes and improve the management of officials and Party members.

Earlier on November 26, Quang Ninh Province suggested the commission apply the strongest possible punishment to Son. The Party’s heaviest punishment is dismissal. Son was suspended from his job November 12 for ethical violations.
