Authorities at Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport have returned a bag containing $4,300 to a passenger en-route to Thailand on Friday, within 15 minutes upon finding the lost bag.

The bag was found by Ha Thi Tuoi, an employee of the airport, being left on a cart at the B12 booth on the third floor of the airport, in a public area leading to the international terminal T2.

After checking the bag for explosives and other security clearances, the bag was handed over to the Noi Bai Aviation Security Center.

$4,300 worth of cash was found inside the bag, but there was no personal document inside it. The airport’s mobile security team then informed the monitoring team to check camera footage and track down the bag’s owner.

The team later identified a passenger at the B12 booth, and determined him as the owner of the forgotten bag, walking towards the waiting area near boarding gate No. 29.

The mobile security team then entered a quarantined area to meet the passenger, requesting him to check his personal belongings. The passenger then realized he had forgotten the bag, but did not remember where he left it.

Following verification processes, the passenger was able to receive his bag in time to get on the TG561 flight en-route to Thailand’s Bangkok at 10:35 a.m. the same day.

A representative of the airport said the number of visitors at the airport has been high after the Tet holiday.

Over the seven days of the Tet holiday this year (between Feb. 8 and 14), Noi Bai reported 365 cases of people forgetting and leaving their belongings at the airport.
