10 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Hanoi since Monday afternoon, ending the city's nine-day streak without community transmission.

The cases were announced by Hanoi Center for Disease Control but have not been confirmed by the Ministry of Health.

One of the cases is a 39-year-old man in My Duc District. On June 13, he traveled with a 33-year-old friend in Ha Nam to Nghe An's Hoang Mai District, before returning to Ha Nam the same day on a coach.

The friend, who's a vehicle salesperson, displayed Covid-19 symptoms starting July 1 and tested positive for the coronavirus on July 5. His case has been confirmed Tuesday morning by the Health Ministry.

The Hanoi man, after returning home, started to have a fever on June 28, and the condition went on until Monday when he tested positive for the coronavirus through a quick test at the My Duc District General Hospital.

His wife and three kids also began to show symptoms starting July 1, and all tested positive as well on Tuesday.

The family is being treated at the Duc Giang General Hospital in Hanoi.

Also Tuesday morning, a 42-year-old taxi driver in Hanoi's Hoang Mai District tested positive for the coronavirus. He had driven four people who had flown to Hanoi from epicenter HCMC on the Vietnam Airlines flight VN286 on July 3.

On Monday afternoon, a security guard at the Thang Long industrial park in Dong Anh District also tested positive for the coronavirus. Three other people associated with him tested positive as well. They either lived in the same neighborhood or were his coworkers in the same industrial park.

As of Tuesday morning, over 2,000 people were linked to the new cases, with over 1,700 samples having tested negative so far.

Hanoi has recorded 468 local Covid-19 cases in Vietnam's fourth coronavirus wave since late April. 148 of them were detected inside two locked down hospitals in the city.
