A man in central Nghe An Province has been investigated after destroying telecom stations, saying their close proximity to his home would affect his health.

Tran Van Hieu, 32, is being investigated for the deliberate destruction of property, police of Dien Chau District said Wednesday.

In December 2022, Hieu set a base transceiver station in Yen Quang Village on fire. The damage that the fire incurred was at around VND350 million ($14,811), police said.

On Jan. 10, Hieu continued to cut electric wires and fiber cables of another base transceiver station in the area. Police caught him in the middle of the act, before he could do much damage.

At the police station, Hieu said the stations were located close to his home, and that he feared they would harm his health.
